Once per year we offer this intimate creative women's retreat timed for Bali's holy ceremonies. Join Marcy Levine and Anne Faught for an insider's experience exploring the rich spiritual traditions of this magical island while also engaging in your own art play at the serene, luxurious Villa Bodhi
Our days include:
$4000 double occupancy. Includes lodging, all transportation, art supplies, and most meals. (Does not include airfare, gratuities, yoga, or massage.) 10% discount if you register before Sept. 15, 2024.
Immerse yourself in the real Bali most tourists never see. Our retreat is timed for the holiest days of the year, Melasti and Nyepi. On Melasti, every village brings their holy religious icons to the beach where hundreds of Balinese sit in prayer at dawn. We will join them. Nyepi is the silent day. The entire island goes silent for a day of contemplation. No cars, no motorcycles, and the airport is closed! The night before Nyepi, village boys parade giant monster statues through the streets to scare away the evil spirits. Our beautiful lodging Villa Bodhi is situated in a quiet village far from the crowded tourist areas. Every room is well appointed and luxurious. Made (pronounced Ma day), the villa manager, makes sure our every need is taken care of. Gusti, our chef, makes delicious, healthy meals. Our incredible guide, Ngakan, leads us to historic and charming sites. Eat Play Art brings you the best of Bali.

From the moment I first set foot on the magical isle of Bali in 1998, I was captivated. I have traveled all over the world but Bali is the place that beckons me back. Our upcoming trip in 2023 will be my 20th visit. Bali has everything a traveler could want. The landscape ranges from lush green rice terraces, to volcanic mountains and gorgeous beaches. The culture is rich and majestic. The food is excellent, The people are beautiful, warm, and welcoming. And, there is ART everywhere. The Balinese aesthetic resonates with my own. I feel at home.
During my many visits to Bali I have developed deep friendships. My Balinese friends lead us to Balinese ceremonies few tourists ever see. I have explored all over the island in search of the most worthwhile activities. These have been curated and are now offered in EatPlayArt.
I have always been a creative. After a 40 year career as a psychotherapist, I am now devoting my time to abstract painting and traveling. Bali is the perfect place to indulge in both.

I love the magic of helping people find their creative voice and confidence in the exploration of art making. A part of each day will be devoted to art play, including new approaches and experimental exercises in acrylic paint, demonstrations and conversations. We will also engage in Soul Collage work, a deep and reflective process. Exercises are designed for the beginner as well as those who have had years of art experience. We have a wonderful, playful time together in a spacious work area at the Villa.
Art making is the way I have always integrated experiences; bringing the outside to the inside, the inside to the outside, the invisible to the visible. Painting is a powerful vehicle. I love working on that ambiguous edge. My drawings lean towards the representational, my paintings pushing into more numinous realms, the sculptural pieces spanning both.
I have a B.F.A. in painting from the San Francisco Art Institute and an M.A.in Art Therapy from the University of San Francisco/Lone Mountain and have taught art and art history for 30 years.

"A fabulous experience from start to finish. Impeccably planned and executed. Met wonderful women that I continue to embrace. The groups leaders provided everything we needed and more.
Delicious, sumptuous meals, art instruction, self exploration and music that encouraged our voices to ring out. Of course there was some shopping and sight seeing, but all done in a way that bypassed the
tourists. Our guides were like family and no detail was left undone. Magical and life changing. "

"As a mother of two teenage girls, I rationalized how I couldn’t take the time or spend the money on a trip to Bali. It seemed extravagant and not at all practical. It took me two years to finally say yes and I’m so glad I did. The trip far exceeded my expectations. I fell in love with the Balinese people and culture, I reconnected with my creativity in a safe space and I met wonderful women that I connected with deeply. Marcy’s passion and enthusiasm for Bali and for life is infectious. This is a trip you shouldn’t put off!"

"At first I wondered why everyone thought that Bali was the place to go. It didn't take long to fall in love with Bali, the people, the sense of aesthetics all around."The only thing I had to do in Bali was relax as every touch point was so beautifully and seamlessly taken care of. It was one of the best experiences of all my travels with wonderful women, sharing enjoyable art work, music, relaxation and connection. The memories are held in my heart. "
